ONE HUNDRED NEW JOBS IN SVEITSI
Opened in October, Hyvinkää’s Sveitsi Holiday Centre has created at least one hundred permanent jobs. Of these, one-half are in Hotel Sveitsi, which is managed by Marja-Liisa Karhu.
Ms Karhu says that Sveitsi Hotel and its three restaurants directly employ some 40 people.
“That’s the number listed on the payroll by Primehotels Oy, who operate the hotel,” Karhu clarifies.
“The hotel also has some partners, such as SOL – which has 20 people working in Sveitsi during the busier periods – and Scanpiha, which is a small local real estate company. In addition to these are all the other companies operating in Sveitsi’s activity complex. While the hotel and its partners employ about 50 people, and other companies about the same number.”
‘Other companies’ include Bio Rex – which has five cinema theatres in Sveitsi – the FitPark gym, KulmaDeli restaurant, SuperPark adventure park, Way Out escape game room, Liangtse Wellness centre, Mind Dynamics – offering wellbeing at work services – and Beauty Spa Sveitsi.
To top all this off is Studiodent, located next to the beauty salon and specialising in dental surgery. Studiodent only performs minor treatments such as tooth whitening at its Sveitsi site, though, while continuing to offer more demanding procedures at its dental clinic in Hyvinkää city centre.
Marja-Liisa Karhu, who has spent most of her working life in the hotel business, is particularly impressed with how closely Sveitsi holiday centre was able to collaborate with Hyria Education, which provides vocational training in the Hyvinkää and Riihimäki area.
“Hyria Education has been extremely active. Hyria realised that Hotel Sveitsi could offer on-the-job training to hotel, catering and tourism students, and that companies from other sectors operating in Sveitsi could also provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience,” explains Karhu.
Hotel Sveitsi occupies the fully renovated and refurbished premises of the former Rantasipi Sveitsi hotel, and initially will have 120 rooms decorated in modern style. In December, another 60 rooms will be added. The hotel also has a variety of conference rooms – almost 30 in total.
“We now have excellent resources for even very large events. For instance, our largest restaurant will seat 700 people for dinner or 1,000 for a cocktail event.”
“Sveitsi is so much more than just a hotel. It’s a very diversified conference, congress and event complex, containing and surrounded by a multitude of varied activities and facilities. And its best asset is its beautiful surroundings – when you step out of the door, you step into a natural landscape comparable to a national park.”
